The Rules
1. Don't be a jerk. Respect other players and try your best to get along with them. At the end of the day, everyone here is just trying to have fun playing fictional characters on the internet and thus it's important to let bygones be bygones. Of course if someone is being a jerk, you have problems/concerns about a potential player, or just about anything else RP-related, please come to talk us! We're here to provide a safe and fun environment for our characters to brutally murder each other in.
2. Understand that there's no guarantee that your character will get in. We've got a cap at 16 characters. That means not everyone will get in. However, we will be taking measures to ensure people do have a good chance at being able to app. Players who don't make it into a round will be put on a waiting list. If anyone cancels their reserve or gets rejected, the next person on the waiting list will take their place. Further more, if there are any characters who didn't make it into the game via the waiting list, we will open up a separate reserve section for the next round consisting of only those people. First ten players who were on the waiting list that reserve get it, while the rest will remain on the waiting list.
3. Players who have played a round will not be allowed back in for another 2 rounds. This is to ensure that many players get to experience the game and to free up a lot of reserve space. Of course if our reserve space is not full by the time it closes, we will open it up to former players.
4. OOC =/= IC or in other words, just because a character is a jerk or questionable in some way does not mean their player is. We are not our characters.
5. Think before you post. Though we are not our characters, it's important to realize that we don't have the luxury of opt out posts in this game. Every character in-game will need to interact with every other character. This means that though the nature of the game is brutal, we will still need to tone down things a bit. So serious topics such as rape, pedophilia, incest, jabs at the disabled or mentally ill, cannibalism, and the like should not be mentioned unless you are one hundred percent sure that the player you're threading with is okay with it.
Putting up a permissions post that warns people about offensive things your character may bring up is fine. However, if the character is virtually impossible to play without breaking the aforementioned rules, we'd kindly like to ask you to not app them. Silly in a murder game, I know, but that's the nature of things. People's feelings are important.
Likewise, don't make jokes about those things oocly either, especially not on game plurks. Doing so will be met with a single warning followed by a ban. Your character will be treated as having broke one of the in-game rules and thus killed off.
6. Stay active. As the game will be moving quickly, it's important to keep up with your tags and the nature of the game. We will be having some leniency, but failure to contribute as much as expected on a consistent basis will lead to your character being chosen as either a victim or a murderer automatically. However, you will be allowed to app into the next round, providing you were removed early enough and we are convinced you will be able to keep up this time around.
Keep in mind, however, that apping into the game means being aware of how important your character is to the game and how important your activity is to us. If you don't think you'll be able to handle it, consider thinking your decision over first. We will allow players to drop their reserves if they decide to cancel them!
7. 7th rule about Hope's Peak Academy: do not talk about Hope's Peak Academy. Or rather, do not mention that your character is a mole/the mastermind/a murderer/a victim. This is a mystery game as much as it is a murder game. Keeping the suspense train chugging along is important!
8. Understand that apping into this game means that your character may very well die and/or kill another player's character. If you cannot reasonably believe that your character would ever kill another for any reason, even as an alternate version of themselves, we ask that you do not app them into the game. Not every character is suitible for every game.
9. Related to Rules 5 and 8, but still important! If you are planning on apping into the game, please keep in mind that this is a murder game. Mentions of blood, gore, dismemberment, murder, and the like are all inevitable. If such things make you feel uncomfortable, please do not app into the game for your own sake. We don't want to make anyone feel offended.
Of course, if you app into the game thinking you can handle it, but realize sooner or later that you can't, don't be afraid! We allow drops to our players. And we will not take any offense to a drop, nor will we get mad. So don't worry about us. We got this.
10. Though the game takes place in an alternate version of the Danganronpa Universe, bear in mind there may still be mentions of spoilers for the entire series.
11. No linking your apps on the app page! Do not put your app anywhere it will be easy to see. Many of the apps submitted are likely to contain information that may spoil something in a round.
12. Stay in character. Yes, everyone apped into the game is an AU version, but that doesn't mean they won't retain most or at least some of their core traits that they possessed in canon. So no puppy-loving, charity-giving Cruella de Vils, for example.
13. And finally, have fun! It's a rule.
